One-on-One Tutoring

This individual is a model and is not directly associated with our company. The most popular of our programs is the one-on-one tutoring in which a student is paired up with a tutor who will help him/her for the duration of the tutoring contract. Because the student only works with a single tutor, trust and confidence for one another build quickly. After receiving information about a prospective client, the Equal Learning Foundation directors will choose one or more tutors that they feel are suitable matches, taking into account geographical location, subject, age, and special accommodations. The prospective client will then have the opportunity to meet with the directors and tutors for a commitment-free interview. If the prospective client feels that the Equal Learning Foundation can fulfill their tutoring needs, he/she will pick one tutor to work with, but will be able to change tutors at any time if requested.

Group Sessions

Occasionally, a client may prefer to be tutored in a small group environment, either with other students his/her age, or with family members. This program is intended for groups of 2 to 6 clients, and usually covers at most 2 different subjects. A client may choose to participate in this program for several reasons, including saving money over the one-on-one tutoring program, to be able to work in a more social environment or because the client only needs occasional help and does not require a full session worth of time. When participating in this program, a client can select the peers that he/she would like to work with, or can join one of our groups that has open spots.

If a group session ever gets too large, one of two things may occur: either it will be broken up into multiple groups, or additional tutors will be added to help provide more individual attention. As with the one-on-one program, a tutor is assigned to teach a group, but the clients can always request a different tutor.

Classes

Classes are meant to help learn a new subject at an introductory level, without going into too much depth. Subjects may or may not be directly related to school-taught material and may deviate from the standard curriculum. This program is intended for those clients who are curious about learning a new topic or just learning for enrichment, but prefer to do it in a group environment where they can ask questions and share what they are learning.

At the moment, we are not teaching any classes, but will soon be offering the following: Astrobiology, Lego Robotics, and Rocketry. If you are interested in participating in any of these, or if you have a suggestion about a class that you would like us to teach, please write to us.

Workshops are short-term classes that are meant to teach the community how to become better students, and will usually focus on teaching something that everyone can benefit from. Workshops will usually only last a couple of hours, but will be offered periodically. Examples of upcoming workshops include: Study Skills, Time Management and Tips To Becoming Organized. If you would like to be notified via email when these workshops will occur, please subscribe to our mailing list.
